Tournament Review
By Garrett Fitzgerald

Year in year out the Supermasters division of the Vail Shoot out always provides high drama, and great lacrosse. This year with the 35th anniversary the Supermasters didn't disappoint, there was a dark horse champion, a living legend on the field and hard fought games everyday.

The surprise of this years Supermasters Tournament was undoubtedly the Cinderella champion team CVLC/Tsunami. Their final game could be considered the biggest upset in the recent history of the Supermasters tournament, where they defeated the Elder Statesmen 12-10.

The fascinating part of the CVLC/Tsunami's run to the championship developed on the first day of competition. In their first round game CVLC/Tsunami scored four goals in the last four minutes including one goal in the last six seconds to send the game to overtime. While CVLC/Tsunami eventually won in overtime, they seem to carry the energy through the rest of the tournament en route to their championship.

In the rest of the tournament the Navy Old Goats, The Tri-City Canadians also made it to the final four. For the Tri-City team Gary Gait was sporting his usual #22, and was a do it all midfielder, even taking face-offs for the Canadian squad. For the Old Goats, Bob Zimmerman led the team from the midfield, and played a truly beautiful brand of lacrosse.
