When is the Vail Lacrosse Shootout?

The Vail Shootout is always scheduled during the days surrounding the 4th of July. Each year we schedule the Men's and Women's Elite divisions around the 4th of July holiday to give fans the best opportunity to see our premiere divisions play. The dates tend to be announced around the 1st of the year.

Where am I sending my kid to play?

The fields are located along a 13 mile stretch of I-70, basically making use of all the fields in the towns of Vail, Avon and Edwards, Colorado.

How do I bring a team to the tournament?

The tournament has a team selection process that varies by division. For most divisions, To be considered, we must receive a completed Request for Entry form (available on all registration pages) along with a deposit payment via credit card or check made payable to International Lacrosse Promotions, Inc., by early February. Even if your team is returning from last year, the written Request for Entry must be submitted. Your Request for Entry form and deposit check should be mailed to: International Lacrosse Promotions, c/o Connie Streich, 7056 Turweston Lane, Castle Rock, CO 80108. The deposit will be applied to your ~$1000-1500 entry fee if your team is accepted; if your team is not accepted the deposit check will be voided. The balance of the entry fee will be due by mid April. Once a team is accepted, all deposit and entry fees are non-refundable. Details for each division may differ as well as costs from year to year.

How do I get to Vail?

From Denver: Take Interstate 70 - West approximately 100 miles to Vail, Colorado. The Vail Ford and Athletic fields are 1/2 mile East of the Vail Villiage. The Eagle-Vail field is in Eagle-Vail, approximately 4 miles west of Vail Villiage. Exit at Avon/Beaver Creek and take the frontage road approximately 2 miles East (yea, back toward Vail), Exit the frontage road at the Eagle-Vail Clock tower and go 1/4 mile to field. Avon is the primary site of the Women's tournament and will host Men's elite division games. Avon is 5 miles West of Vail. Exit Interstate 70 at Avon and go North toward Beaver Creek Ski Resort. Fields will be on your right. Make a right on road immediately before you enter Beaver Creek Resort.

Can the tournament find me a team or provide me a list of teams and contacts so I can find a team to play on?

As a general rule, (unless a team contacts us) the tournament does not interfere with the player selection process nor provide contacts of teams entered. You will have to use your other lacrosse contacts to determine who might be bringing a team in your age bracket.

How do I volunteer for the tournament?

The Shootout is always in need of hard workers to help out in a number of areas. Please email media@vaillacrosse.com with your age, your availability and your interests, and we'll try to match you to a volunteer opportunity.

How are teams selected for entry into the tournament?

Teams that participated in the previous year's tournament are given their spots back. Any remaining spots will be filled by teams selected by us. We will select teams that will best round-out the geographical representation of teams. Preference will be given to teams representing a state or region (75% of roster from a specified state or region).

How do players get on a team for the Shootout?

Each team has it's own policy on recruiting players and generally the Shootout does not provide those contacts unless the teams ask for help from the tournament in finding players. You'll have to contact teams on your own using your contacts, friends associates and perhaps electronic bulletin boards like the ones at laxpower.com and lax.com or on the Vail Shootout Facebook page or event pages.

Can a player play for multiple teams?

A player can only play for one team in a division, but you can play in multiple divisions.
